R.E.D.D. Sled
Created by Captain Andy Kossoff and Captain Al Rodriguez, the R.E.D.D. Sled, or "Rapid Extrication Drag Device", was developed after the two captains recognized a problem. While serving as Training Officers, they noticed that the Rapid Intervention Teams were not as "rapid" as the name might imply. In order to more easily and quickly remove a downed firefighter from a dangerous environment, they developed this tool. The R.E.D.D. Sled is "quick to deploy, easy to use, can help prevent injuries". It can also be used in other Fire and EMS settings, such as transporting patients up hills or down stairs--basically, the uses are endless.
